Fun Family Fourth of July Game!

Are you in charge of hosting an Independence Day picnic? Need a fun activity that everyone can participate in? Tired of playing the same game of Sharades or Pictionary at all your family gatherings? Well, I have something you’re going to love!

Here is the debut of our newest version of the Choices! game:

Choices: Fourth of July Edition

This printable game only requires paper, an empty jar, a few small prizes, and ANY number of participants of ANY age or ability!

And, the instructions are simple:

Have each of your players come up to the jar individually, choose a slip of paper (a “consequence”), and read it out loud! This version of the game includes tons of fun, patriotic consequences such as performing the “Star-Spangled Banner,” naming some of the original 13 colonies, flying around like a bald eagle, and winning a Texas-Size Prize! Once they have finished performing or completing their consequence, they leave the slip of paper outside the jar, and it’s the next player’s turn! Once all of the papers have been used up, the game is done!

Doesn’t that sound simple!?

I guarantee that everyone will get a chance to be silly, show off their knowledge of American history, or even display some artsy talents! This game is specifically designed so that no one should feel left out, and everyone will roll around laughing!

So, let’s get started!

To play, first read my blog article here about how the Choices! game was created! Next, download the PDF Fourth of July edition of this game either from the link above or on the Free Printables page of our website!

Here are some of the few supplies you’ll need:

  • Choices: Fourth of July Edition
  • A printer
  • Plain white copy paper
  • Scissors
  • Any sort of empty jar, container, box, or bag!
  • Rhode-Island Size Prizes (optional)
  • TWO TEXAS-SIZE PRIZES (optional)

Instructions:

  • Print out the sheets on plain, white copy paper.
  • Cut out each slip of paper.
  • Fold each slip so that the “consequences” are not visible.
  • Mix them up and place in your empty container (you can literally use any kind of jar or box or bag!)
  • Begin playing!
  • The game ends when all of the consequences have been unfolded and completed!
  • Refold papers and put them back into the container so that they’re ready to be used for next time!

Very similar to the original, Sunday school version of the game, this version of Choices! has options for prizes, losing turns, passing along consequences, and even creating some of your own, original consequences!

Be sure to comment about what consequences you’ve come up with!
